More Preparations

The MicMacs have been working hard spreading the word about the bake sale this Friday during lunch, putting together mini-lessons that will be presented to other classes, reading and responding to inspirational literature and preparing their treasures for the MicMac Market next Saturday. Their enthusiasm is still growing!

Getting the Word Out

Today the MicMacs put their informational and persuasive writing skills to work by creating posters. Some students worked on motivational posters which included inspiring quotes about giving, as well as pictures depicting life in Nicaragua and an encouraging message to get involved with the MicMac Give Back. Others worked on posters to remind the school about the important Read-a-Thon details and to inform them about the upcoming bake sale next week. They all did a great job!

The MicMacs also discussed setting a fund raising goal for themselves. They decided that each person was going to raise $100 for the MicMac Give Back. Between both classes that would be a total of $3,700...wow! If we can raise that much money between 2 classes, imagine if everyone in the school set a goal to raise $100. That would be amazing!

Take a look at some students hard at work today.

Preparing for the Market

The students started making ceramic treasures that will be sold at the MicMac Market Saturday, May 10th. Here are some of the vases that they made in art class. Already these creations look wonderful...just wait until they are painted! Perfect Mother's Day gifts for sure!

Next week they will be painting bird houses. Stay tuned...

The Presentations

At the faculty meeting last week Stephanie, Max and Alex delivered a fabulous presentation to the staff. They explained what the MicMac Give Back is all about, where it came from, and what they want to do. They even explained how the teachers could get their classes involved. They did a fantastic job!!!
A special thank you to the additional presentation committee members for gathering the facts and putting it all together: Rishta, Claire, Parker, Sammy and Lilia.

On Friday, all of the students prepared short presentations for the MicMac Read-a-Thon. Each group was responsible for preparing a speech, making sure they had all of the correct details for the event, visiting at least two classrooms to deliver the speech and dispersing the pledge forms. We were so proud of all of their hard work...they did a great job!
